Northwind (BE)

The Northwind offshore power plant consists of 72 off shore wind turbines and a transformer station in water depths up to 28 meters. The project was completed in 2014 and, with a capacity of 216 MW, it will be able to supply 120,000 households, which is equivalent to a reduction of 240,000 tons of CO₂ per year.

One of the challenges during installation was the seabed, consisting of moving sand that needed to be secured using rock erosion protection.

It is located near the Belwind 1 project, 37 km off the coast of Zeebrugge.
